Hey guys I've been playing a lot of Persona 4 Arena and decided to do a "road to" series. For those of you that don't know what a Weaboo is let me define it for you here before I dive into depth as to why I created this series.

I originally wanted to chronicle my progress in Persona 4 Arena. I've learned most of what I know about Persona 4 Arena from people that view my live stream. I've received so much help and advice from these viewers and I'm thankful. Now let's get to why I decided to call this series Road to Weaboo. Along with some great stream viewers I've also encountered people that only watch the anime and give me shit for not knowing who these characters are and how I shouldn't play the game unless I watch the anime.
This kind of attitude is why I feel that a lot of anime fighting games don't have a large competitive community. Fans of the anime's that these games are created for need to understand that most fighting game fans will play any fighting game as long as its good. I knew nothing about the Persona series before this fighting game. I heard about Shin Megami Tensei: Digital devil saga when it was first released but I didn't play the game. I didn't know who these characters in Persona 4 Arena were all I knew was that the game reminded me of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (which just so happened to be another anime game that I didn't realize was an anime). The different Personas reminded of the stands in JoJo's and that is what peaked my interest in the game.
My only other experience with an anime game was Blazblue: Continuum Shift which I didn't particularly enjoy. The mechanics of the game, the story, the community; it just wasn't for me. The experiences I had with some of the Blazblue community also left a bad impression. I don't watch much anime. I've tried to watch anime, but I always lost interest after a few episodes and stop watching. I appreciate the art that goes into the animation of these shows. I don't care much for the story, but I can appreciate why people love these anime's so much. What I can seem to wrap my mind around is that if I don't judge you or give you crap for watching something you enjoy like anime then why would you give me crap for not watching it?
I love fighting games. The competition, the community, I like it all. So whether a fighting game is considered anime or not is meaningless to me. If the fighting game is good then I'm going to play it. So what I'm trying to say is Weaboo's stop being assholes. You're making actual anime fans look bad and you're irritating the shit out of me. If we were to ever meet in real life I'd probably punch you right in your fu#@ing face for the crazy stuff you've said to me online. Enjoy your anime and let us fighting game fans enjoy our fighting games.
One of the biggest things that I find annoying about Weaboo's is that they try to be Japanese so bad. Here in Hawaii we have a strong culture influenced by many ethnicity's; predominantly Asian cultures. Japan and Hawaii have very close ties and Weaboo's seem a little disrespectful. There's a difference between having a love for a different culture, learning about their history and taking a genuine interest in the culture. Then there's thinking you know everything about that culture, denouncing your own and pretending to be Japanese. I can go on and on, but if there are any Weaboo's reading this just remember in 1942 the US government ordered over 100,000 people of Japanese decent into internment camps. The hardships they had to suffer were unimaginable and it was all because of their ethnicity. So tell me if what happened in 1942 were to happen all over again in 2012 would you be strong enough and have courage enough to claim that you're Japanese?I hope you join me on my Road to Weaboo and maybe I'll know everything about the Japanese culture and become fluent in Japanese by the time we're done.
